is an article that anyone who uses social media or plans on being apart of a business should read.

I know reading an article that isn’t assigned by your professor usually doesn’t appeal to people, but this article will help you, especially in your future and in your career.

With the advances of technology, the way we communicate has changed.  Social media is now how many professionals communicate with their audience.  In order to communicate successfully, we need to fully understand social media and how to use it to gain all the benefits it has to offer.

Many people don’t know what social media actually is, and confuse it with things it’s not.

No matter what you do in the future, social media will come to play a role in your life.  This is why you need to know what it is and what it consists of to properly use it.

There are many kinds of social media, each can be used for its own reasons.

The most interesting points I found in the article were the 5 points about using media and the 5 points about being social.

The 5 points to using media are:

  1. Choose carefully (when selecting a social media)
  2. Pick the application or make your own
  3. Ensure activity alignment
  4. Media plan integration
  5. Access for all

**The 5 points about being social (which I find to be the most beneficial advice) are:

  1. Be active
  2. Be interesting
  3. Be humble
  4. Be unprofessional
  5. Be honest

I find these to be helpful points that can greatly improve your social media skills.

People think everyone can use social media, but you really need to understand it and learn about its components to gain the results you are looking for.

Being a college student, learning about this now rather than later, can be an advantage in the workplace.

Many PR professionals are trying to learn this now, if we learn this at a young age we have the upper hand and can gain success.
